PHILOSOPHY
“I have a conviction that people today have never wanted to give so much and yet never have they been so skeptical about the channel through which giving is normally applied. We have an opportunity to change that. Let us strengthen the relationships we have and look for the opportunities to put resources into the hands of those who can be trusted to use them well and efficiently.” – Lynn Green, International Chairman, YWAM
Friend of a Friend (fof) believes that awareness will eradicate apathy. FOF believes that with increased knowledge people will be moved to action, to go, to give. More often than not, financial giving is the most practical way to partner with work. Through stories and pictures of our friends in different nations, fof hopes to give global issues a face, a name.
With this in mind, Friend of a Friend creates an open channel for communications and relational giving between Youth with a Mission (YWAM) field locations, the wider YWAM community and the general public, including possible donors.
Values:
- We commit to placing relationship between ourselves, the donor and the field workers as highest priority.
- We commit to honesty and transparency in all our dealings, financial and otherwise.
- We commit to a spirit of generosity.
- We commit to advocating for both the projects and the donors. Giving should be of benefit to all involved.
- We commit to seeking outside advice and taking council into account.
TEAM
Sharon Green
Sharon is many things…among which, a registered nurse and an American with a British accent, or a Brit with an American accent, depending on whom you ask. Her life thus far has been scattered over many countries but while in the UK she divides her time between rotations at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and volunteering with Orphans kNOw More, located at YWAM Harpenden. She is also Aunty Shaz to her niece and nephews, a loyal friend and a baker who doesn’t use measuring cups or a timer. Contact Sharon here.
Molly Petersen
Molly is an international woman of mystery, or so she would like to believe. She has gone from residing in Mississippi to France to Bangkok to England in the span of just a few years all under different guises of student, teacher, journalist and humanitarian respectively. She takes any excuse for trips back to her hometown of Kansas City, because she is, in short, a homebody with an incurable case of wanderlust. Contact Molly here.
Molly and Sharon
Shaz and mp became a team in April 2005 when they traveled together to Uganda to research work for Orphans kNOw More (www.orphansknowmore.com). Friend of a Friend was formed shortly after their return. Through relationships they have built in Africa, Asia and the Middle East they hope to build a global network of communication and relational giving.
